RENAULT RAFALE - HELENE BOUCHER

New Work - Sound Design
In 1934, Helene Boucher flew a Caudron-Renault 450 Rafale, setting speed and altitude records. Her achievements not only pushed the boundaries of aviation during the Golden Era of flight, but also helped to challenge opinions and open doors for women in aviation. Less than a year later, this inspiring and intrepid young French aviator tragically died in a crash during a test flight in France, aged only 26 years old.

We’re proud to have created the Sound Design for this beautifully crafted film, directed by Dan DiFelice.

Part of the brief for sound design was to make this legendary Caudron aircraft sound like a wild animal, as well as the literal and mechanical elements of a powerful, vintage, diesel machine, and it was a challenge! but so inspiring and fun to explore and create. The end result was a multi-layered organic-roaring-piston-pumping beast and something a little unexpected! … So turn the volume up to eleven (that’s one-more louder than ten) and check out the film on the link below …
